  1. How did you get involved with writing fan fiction?

RA: Back in early 97 the net was just expanding with newsgroups, webgroups, & email lists. Remember or maybe I’m dating myself here. I was into Xena and Seaquest. Found a few groups discussing the series, read some fan-scripts and thought gee I could write something. Wrote a couple scripts, moved on to fic…found smut…found slash…kind of like finding religion.

  1. What story was the most fun to write? Which was the most challenging and why?

RA: In HP? Brass in Pocket was fun to write (as most PWP’s are) because it was just Ron’s mind sort of wandering all over the place and I just let the boys cut loose. Tea and Empathy was difficult because I got a bit ambitious with the scope for a short story and had the daunting task of working a Harry/Ron story that equally dealt with the Harry-Draco relationship. Also, body-switching has almost as many land mines as time travel.

  1. Who is your favorite Harry Potter Character and why?

RA: Harry. Because it’s Harry Potter and the ____________. Seriously, nothing quite so lovely as the damaged hero.

  1. Where are you from and tell us something interesting about where you live

RA: I’m an east coast US (Boston via Baltimore) transplant to California. San Jose is great. It’s a city of almost a million people and yet where we live feels like a suburban bedroom community. Also, the racial diversity is fantastic. My son’s kindergarten class looks like a mini U.N.

  1. What advice would you give other writers?

RA: Let your writing sit for a few days or a week, then come back and re-read it.

  1. What is your favorite food and would which famous person (non-Hp) would you most like to share it with?

RA: I’d like to go eat Sushi with Steve Jobs.

  1. If you were trapped in a cupboard with a Harry Potter character who would it be and what pick up line would you use on them?

RA: Harry (although I think it unfair to lock him up in a cupboard). “Let’s have mind-altering sex to keep your mind off of things.”

  1. Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?

RA: I like them all equally for different reasons.

  1. Do you think we're completely mental?

    RA: Oh absolutely, me too!

  1. What was the most shocking moment of the HP Series?

RA: Tough call, I think Cedric’s instant death, brilliant but so shocking.

  1. If you could ask JKR one thing what would it be?

RA: What was the first “Harry Potter” idea/story that formed in your head and tell me all about it?

  1. Who is (are) your role model(s)?

    RA: My parents.

  1. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

    RA: Oliver Wood? Morning Wood?

  1. What three things would you take with you to a deserted island?

RA: A bottle of Cazadores Tequila, my husband and some lube.

  1. Which HP character would do the best on Survivor and why?

RA: Severus Snape: he’s been playing the game for years.

  1. What is the defining moment in the characterization of your favorite character?

RA: Another toughie, in the absence of Book 7, I’ll choose when Harry picks himself up and faces Voldemort in the graveyard at the end of GOF.

  1. What inspires you to write?

    RA: My imagination.

  1. If you could choose Harry's fate what would it be?

RA: The hero must live. HP isn’t a Greek tragedy, it’s an archetypal journey.

  1. Which character is the hardest for you to write?

RA: With the exception of Molly Weasley, anyone of the “older” generation. They all seem to come out the same. I really enjoy writing Harry’s generation.

  1. Give us your epitaph.

    RA: Pass

  1. What kind of environment do you like to write in? Quite? Loud?

RA: Quiet, when the kids are out of the house or asleep.

  1. When writing do you have any tried and true tricks that you use to tempt your muse?

    RA: Lucid dreaming/fantasizing

  1. If you were a character in the Harry Potter books who would you be and why?

RA: I was lot like Hermione in high school, but more like the Twins in college.
